Crafty Inspiration: 10 Craft Projects to Try This Summer

I've always enjoyed crafting, even if I'm not a pro at it. And I've always wanted to be one of those amazing crafty, artistic people who effortlessly make amazing things. I'm not quite there, but I'm definitely working on it!

I always find tons of craft ideas online that I want to try. In fact, I've gathered a solid 300+ ideas on my DIY & Fun Ideas Pinterest board.

Here are just a few of the projects I want to try this summer (slash into the fall...I don't want to limit myself or anything).

DIY Neon Cactus Light | Shrimp Salad Circus
I mean, look at this thing. I don't need to tell you why it's amazing -- it's pretty obvious. I can see myself easily getting carried away and making light-up everythings for my apartment. But I'll start with a cactus :)

DIY Pretzel Pillow | Studio DIY
The second I saw this pretzel I knew I had to have it. I bought a stuffed cactus (I don't know how it happened but I have a serious thing for cacti, apparently) recently and it's adorable, but it needs a pretzel friend!

DIY Pom Pom Brooch | The Crafted Life
I'm pretty sure I've never worn a brooch in my life, but this is a game changer. First, pom poms are amazing. Second, I love the pop of color it brings to the dress in this picture. I wear a lot of black so I think it would have a similar affect on my wardrobe.

DIY Guess Who Board Game | Almost Makes Perfect
Guess Who was my jam when I was a kid. I love this idea because I can play a childhood favorite using pictures of people I actually know (or celebrities I'm crushing one..whichever).

Neon Mosaic Tile Trivet | Shrimp Salad Circus
We've established I have an obsession with coasters, and a trivet is basically a giant coaster, so I'm sold. I love anything neon, and I think the fact that the trivet is predominantly neutral with the pop of color makes it both festive and easy to incorporate into any kitchen.

DIY Jumbo Tassels | Fall for DIY
I don't just love pom poms, I love tassels too. Especially giant tassels. This is such a simple yet versatile craft because you can use any color(s) you want and pretty much do anything with them. Make a garland, trim a blanket, trim a rug...really you can trim anything.

DIY Wood & Copper Necklaces | See Kate Sew
I think this one spoke to me because it fits in nicely with my love of long necklaces. I like the raw wood mixed with the copper, but you could also paint the wood fun colors. Maybe you want one tiny neon pink wooden ball -- you can do that! I see myself making several -- some painted, some not painted (and all of them long).

Custom Text Door Mat Tutorial | Dream a Little Bigger
I've seen so many door mat tutorials, and I love them all. I think this would be the one for me, though, as I'm a big fan of saying "y'all" and it would make me feel like I'm in the south even though I'm not. Plus, it's just so welcoming :)

DIY Gold-Decorated Clay Jewelry Dishes | Hello Natural
This just seems so simple and easy AND useful. I believe you can never have too many jewelry dishes (I also have a million and 12 coasters, so take that with a grain of salt). This could be a quick and fun craft to do on an afternoon with some girlfriends and wine (and guac and chips).

Gemstone Garland | Tell Love and Chocolate
These gemstones look so fun! They're big, you can paint them however you want, and they'll make a boring wall super festive. Maybe I'll go crazy and combine this with the giant tassels.
